The European Union in Sierra Leone on 8 March 2023 celebrated International Women’s Day by signing a €5 million project to promote women’s empowerment in Sierra Leone.
The signing of the project was in support of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and local authorities that are promoting women’s rights, freedom, and gender equality.
In recent times, the EU has shown great interest in promoting women’s empowerment in Sierra Leone. On the theme, ‘’Let’s make 2023 a remarkable year for women’s empowerment’’, the EU organized a conference that was attended by representatives of the EU together with other stakeholders that are active in promoting women’s rights and ensuring they play active roles in society.
