The prices of bread will go up in Sierra Leone by Tuesday 24th August, 2021. This is according to the Sierra Leone Association of Bakers.
Le500 or more is to be added on all the prices. Bread usually sold at le1,000 will go up to le1,500.
The increase in price came after a continuous rise in the prices of flour, sugar and commodities used in the production of bread.
According to Sierra Leone Association of Bakers, importers of flour have increased the price of flour even though government has a fix price.

“The increase in the price of flour and sugar has a direct effect the production of bread. If we buy flour at a high price, we will sell bread to make profit”, the Public Relations Officer said.
