Mano River Union Empowers Women Traders
Mohamed Aruna The Mano River Union (MRU) team has interacted with various women groups and stakeholders at the border crossing points to teach them skills related to development and improving their lives.
Representatives from women groups and stakeholders in Koindu, Foya, Jendema, and Bo waterside were met by the team. This engagement was part of the BI-BEST project, which aims to build business ecosystems for stabilization and transformation.
The primary objective of the BI-BEST project, as stated by the team, is to empower women traders in cross-border value chains. This will lead to resilient economic growth and social cohesion in the Mano River Union (MRU) region.
The project has been specifically designed to create favorable conditions for inclusive markets in cross-border locations, including Jendema in Sierra Leone, Bo Waterside in Liberia, Koindu in Sierra Leone, and Foya in Liberia.
