A young and promising Cheney University future medical doctor student, Taduba Turay was killed when her car was struck head-on by a driver headed early on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

News about the death of  the U.S based Sierra Leonean native sent shock waves among the Sierra Leone and the African community in Philadelphia.

Police sources revealed that the deadly crash was due to a driver who was under the influence of alcohol and went the wrong way down the roadway and hit the car head-on killing a 21-year-old Taduba Turay.

Speaking to the media on the phone from their residence in Philadelphia, the father Mr. Samuel Dilito Turay said she was a bright light that extinguished too soon. She was promising woman whose aspirations were to become a full-fledged medical doctor upon completion of her studies but unfortunately her dream was cut short.

Family members say, Taduba’s love for her native country of Sierra Leone was unimaginable as she always cared for the less privileged girls who want to further their education through her foundation.

Police sources say, they are preparing to bring charges against the man for his alleged role in this fatal crash.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
