CKC Strengthens Peace Education Among Pupils in Bo
Christ the King College (CKC) in Bo has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peaceful relationships among pupils following a peace education outreach by the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC).
The outreach, organised by the ICPNC Southern Regional Office, engaged pupils on the importance of respecting one another, rejecting bullying and violence, and resolving disagreements through dialogue.
The programme provided pupils with practical lessons on how their daily behaviour and interactions can contribute to creating a safe and peaceful school environment.
Speaking during the outreach, ICPNC Southern Regional Coordinator Belinda Ndanema encouraged pupils to respect their teachers and fellow students while avoiding actions that could lead to conflict.
She urged them to become young ambassadors of peace by practising tolerance and respect in school, at home and within their communities.
Teacher at CKC, Mr. Joseph Lappia, welcomed the initiative, describing peace education as important in shaping the behaviour and relationships of young people.
Lappia said CKC would continue encouraging pupils to respect one another, avoid violence and settle disagreements peacefully.
He also expressed hope that the Peace Commission would sustain its engagement with schools to strengthen peace education among young people.
The outreach forms part of efforts to equip young people with values and skills that promote peaceful coexistence and dialogue in their communities.
