The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has handed over 10 motorbikes to School Quality Assurance Officers in Western Urban as part of efforts to strengthen education supervision and improve monitoring of schools.
The distribution forms part of a nationwide initiative that will provide 200 motorbikes to School Quality Assurance Officers across all 16 districts in Sierra Leone.
Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, said the initiative is aimed at equipping education supervisors with the necessary tools to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
He noted that teachers require consistent supervision, while pupils need inspectors who can easily access schools and communities to monitor learning standards and ensure quality education delivery.
According to the Ministry, improving education quality requires empowering frontline workers with the resources needed to perform their duties effectively.
The Ministry further emphasised that free and quality education cannot be achieved without strong systems, accountability, and adequate support for those responsible for maintaining educational standards.
