Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey has on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 commended 11-year-old Davies Bethany of Tower Hill Kindergarten and Primary School for achieving the highest score in the National Primary School Examination (NPSE).
Bethany emerged as the top-performing candidate with a score of 351, an achievement Minister Sackey described as a demonstration of what young Sierra Leoneans can accomplish through academic excellence and determination.
Speaking after the release of the examination results, Sackey singled out Bethany for recognition, saying the pupil had set a positive example for children across the country.
According to the Minister, Bethany’s performance serves as “a beacon for every young Sierra Leonean,” demonstrating that excellence is within reach at an early age.
Sackey encouraged Bethany to take pride in the achievement, assuring the young pupil that the Government of Sierra Leone recognises and celebrates her success.
The Minister also congratulated all 160,161 pupils who sat the examination, noting that more than 125,000 candidates had successfully earned admission into junior secondary school.
He described the successful candidates as young people helping to build Sierra Leone, while encouraging those who did not pass to view the results as a setback rather than the end of their educational journey.
Sackey assured unsuccessful candidates that the Ministry would continue working to address barriers affecting their education and urged them to return and sit the examination again next year.
He described the pupils as “future architects” of Sierra Leone and congratulated them for their efforts.
