Four universities have advanced to the grand finale of the Suad Baydoun National University Debating and Essay Writing Competition after emerging from an intense opening-day contest involving 10 participating universities.
The successful institutions are Fourah Bay College (FBC), the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), Milton Margai University, and the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).
The competition’s opening day provided a platform for students from universities across the country to demonstrate their debating skills, critical thinking, confidence, creativity and academic excellence.

Following the conclusion of the preliminary rounds, the four institutions secured places in the final, setting the stage for a decisive contest for national honours.
The grand finale is scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2026, when the four finalists will compete for the title of ultimate champions of the Suad Baydoun National University Debating and Essay Writing Competition.
The event is expected to provide another opportunity for the finalists to showcase their intellectual abilities, persuasive communication and analytical skills before the competition’s final verdict is delivered.
