Former Housemates Salone contestant Kumba Sinah, popularly known as Kumzee, has announced plans to attempt a new Guinness World Record with a 163-hour cookathon.
The record attempt is scheduled to run from November 5 at 4:00 PM to November 11 at 4:00 PM at Cabana, Lumley Beach Road, with the aim of surpassing the current record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
In a social media announcement, Kumzee said the event is more than just a cooking marathon, describing it as a celebration of resilience, passion, and Sierra Leonean excellence.
She encouraged members of the public to support the initiative by purchasing food and drinks from Cabana while witnessing the attempt live. Entry to the cookathon, she noted, will be free.
“We want the public to come witness history in the making and cheer us on every step of the journey. Bring your family, friends, and your loudest cheers. Let’s make history together, one meal at a time,” she wrote.
Event organisers said the cookathon is also aimed at showcasing Sierra Leonean cuisine, culture, and talent on the global stage.
The current Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual stands at 140 hours, 11 minutes, and 11 seconds, achieved by Evette Quoibia in Melbourne, Australia, from February 19 to February 25, 2024.
