Beauty pageant queen and Miss Sierra Leone 2011, Natasha Beckley also known as Swadu has kicked off her ‘Trash to Treasure’ project where she will be awarding 24 million Leones to top five schools.

As a start, Natasha Beckley visited five schools namely; Muslim Congress, Albert Academy Secondary School, Methodist Boys High school, St Helena Secondary and Government Model Secondary school.

According to the rapper, ‘Trash to Treasure’ is about brining schools onboard in managing trash in an innovative way. 24 schools are selected to take part in the competition for best innovative ideas in which five best schools will be selected with a prize of 24 million Leones.

Natasha Beckley took to Facebook and narrated how the project will be implemented and the impact it will create.

“I care about the environment and I want my high school fans to keep their school environment clean.

I kicked off a project called Trash to Treasure. I am challenging each school that I visit to turn the trash in their school to a treasure art piece.

April 21st the world celebrates World creativity and innovation day. All 24 schools will present their Trash to Treasure project and the top 5 schools will be awarded prizes. I am giving away 24 million Leones to the top 5 schools. The cash prize is to support a project in the school, some schools don’t have good functioning toilets, some schools have unfinished eating areas, some schools will like to win the money to add more benches in the classrooms. In each school I establish the Natasha Beckley Trash to Treasure environment club and hope to continue this project yearly. Some schools are so clean, I had to commend the teachers and students.

“Sierra Leonean youths deserve to learn in a clean and healthy environment.”

I just want to thank (NP) National Petroleum for their support. I also want to thank the teachers, and school Principals for welcoming me.
