Ramadan 2023 in Sierra Leone is expected to begin on the evening of 22nd March and ends on the evening of 20th April.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar calendar generally observed by Muslims globally as a month of fasting which comes after Shaban and before Shawwal and is among the holy months in Islam.

Muslims around the world are expected to fast for 29 or 30 days consecutively, wherein Muslims are expected to abstain from things considered to be impure for the mind and body.

It is also a month of intense spiritual revitalization with a high focus on devotion as Muslims spend more time reading the holy Quran, offering more prayers, and doing good deeds for the less privileged.

Before Muslims start fasting they eat a meal called suhur and while breaking they’re fast they eat a meal called iftar.

According to various reports, Ramadan 2023 in Sierra Leone is expected to begin on the evening of 22nd March and ends on the evening of 20th April.

The date each year changes because the Islamic calendar is Lunar which does not synchronize with the solar-based Gregorian calendar used by the western world.

Each month in the Islamic calendar begins with a confirmed sighting of the first crescent of the new moon unable to know the exact date until near the time, but predictions are made using astronomical charts to give people an idea and allow some preparation from Muslims.
