The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone has donated computers, printers, and other ICT equipment to support the ongoing construction of a 600-bed ultra-modern hospital, which is now over 90 per cent complete.
The donation was received on behalf of the First Lady by her Chief of Staff, Sheikh Salim Feika, from His Excellency Ambassador Zhao Yong, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone.
Staff of the Office of the First Lady, led by the Chief of Staff, together with military personnel from the 34 Military Hospital, received the donated equipment during a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy at Spur Loop, Freetown.
Expressing appreciation for the contribution, the First Lady thanked the government and people of the People’s Republic of China, through Ambassador Zhao Yong, for what she described as generous and timely support.
She noted that the donated computers, printers, and other ICT equipment will play an important role in preparing the hospital for future operations and strengthening its capacity to provide quality healthcare services when completed.
