The Ministry of Health and Sanitation has on Tuesday, July 1st, reported 39 new Mpox cases in Sierra Leone, raising the national total to 4,528.

The virus continues to spread aggressively, particularly in the western urban area of Freetown, with 2,600 Mpox cases.

The Ministry reported that there are currently 445 active cases. In the past day, 103 new recoveries were recorded. The total number of recovered individuals stands at 4,053, and the death toll at 30.

Mpox cases have been reported across various regions in Sierra Leone, with Western Urban reporting the highest number of cases (2,600), followed by Western Rural (911).

The gender breakdown of confirmed cases is as follows: 2,160 female and 2,368 male.

The Ministry reminds the public that Mpox is not the same as chickenpox and urges anyone who develops a fever and unexplained rashes to call the emergency number 117 immediately for medical attention or assistance.
