All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant Sheikh Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has in his first TV interview claimed that his involvement in the opposition party has helped restore public confidence in the APC after a period of declining support.
Kamara made the remarks during an interview with veteran journalist Umaru Fofana on AYV’s State of the Nation maiden programme.
According to him, the APC had reached a stage where some supporters were reluctant to publicly identify themselves with the party. He said the party’s revival could not be achieved by one individual alone, but required the collective effort of all APC members.
“By God’s grace, when I came into the party, the APC had declined significantly. It had reached a point where some people were even ashamed to identify themselves as APC supporters,” Kamara said during the interview.
He added that his contributions and engagement within the party have helped change that perception, claiming that many people are now openly expressing pride in their APC identity.
Kamara also pointed to what he described as visible improvements in party structures and operations, including support for membership card production and renovations of party offices.
The APC flagbearer aspirant further disclosed that he contributed more than 80,000 dollars toward the production of membership cards and had committed 200,000 dollars for renovation work on the party’s regional office in Makeni, although the project has not yet been completed due to disagreements surrounding technical documentation.
His comments have sparked discussion among party supporters and political observers, with some viewing the remarks as an attempt to present himself as a key figure in rebuilding the APC ahead of the party’s internal leadership contest and the 2028 general elections.
