The Parliamentary Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Abdul Kargbo, has disclosed that he joined the District Council in mobilising young people in Lungi to undertake a community clean-up and beautification exercise ahead of the upcoming ECOWAS Summit.

According to Kargbo, the initiative is part of efforts to ensure that Lungi presents a clean, welcoming, and dignified environment for distinguished guests attending the regional gathering.

He noted that the collective effort reflects a shared commitment by residents to uphold civic responsibility and promote community pride.

Kargbo further commended the youth and all individuals who participated in the exercise, describing their involvement as a demonstration of the strong spirit of service within the district.

“Together, we are demonstrating the spirit of civic responsibility and community service that makes our district proud,” he stated.

The summit is scheduled to be held at the newly established Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, marking a significant moment for Sierra Leone’s role in advancing regional cooperation and integration..

Ahead of the Heads of State summit, Sierra Leone is hosting a series of ECOWAS statutory meetings in Freetown from July 12 to 17, bringing together ministers, senior ECOWAS officials, government representatives, delegates, and other stakeholders from across West Africa.

The meetings include the 39th Meeting of the Administration and Finance Committee, scheduled for July 12 to 14 at the Bintumani New Hall, followed by the 56th Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council at Ministerial Level on July 15.
