The election, scheduled to take place on April 11th, 2026, in Makeni, has generated significant interest and enthusiasm among the people of the chiefdom.

The process of electing a new Paramount Chief began on March 12th, 2026, with 12 aspirants from the chiefdom’s four ruling houses declaring their intentions to contest the position. The Declaration of Rights ceremony, held at the Chiefdom administrative Building in Makieni City, was overseen by the Provincial Secretary of the Northeast region, Prince Soriba, who worked closely with Tribal Authorities to vet the aspirants.

After a thorough verification process, nine candidates were declared eligible to contest the position. They are: Kamara Anthony Francis, Kamara Ishamel, Kamara Toofan Joseph Sorie, Kamara Kayleemasa Kasimi, Kamara Obai Mohamed, Kamara Moses, Kamara Edward Sullay, Kamara Serry Yamba Koroma Sir Edward, and Kamara Usif.

The successful candidates will compete for the paramount chieftaincy of Bombali Sebora Chiefdom, a major chiefdom in the Bombali District with a population of 36,407 as of 2015. The chiefdom has been under the leadership of a Regent since the passing of Paramount Chief Bai Sebora Kasanga II, who served from 1993 until his passing in 2023.

The election is expected to be a vibrant and peaceful celebration of the local culture and traditions, including the revered Poro secret society. Security is high, with a strong presence of law enforcement officials expected on polling day, ensuring the event remains peaceful.

The people of Bombali Sebora are eagerly awaiting the outcome, with many hoping the new Paramount Chief will bring development and prosperity to the chiefdom.
