It has emerged over the weekend that some principals are demanding some amount of money from Parents or pupils as admission to gain entrance for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) against government policy.

The attention of the Director of Education Karene District Education office, Kamakwie (BECE and WASSCE) Principals of some secondary schools are demanding fifty thousand leones (Le 50,00), for admission notices from the candidates of parents for the 2022 public Exams, Deputy Director of Education in the Ministry of Basic and senior Secondary Exucation (MBSSE), Foday Conteh said in a press release issued on May 11th 2022.

He said, “The school subsidies paid by government are a composite fee that includes tuition, Sports and examination.”

Conteh said any attempt to collect a single cent from candidates or parents in the name of admission is acting contrary to the Ministry’s policies and will face the full force of the law
