The Chairperson of Tonkolili District, Madam Yabom Sesay has bid farewell to her people as she officially leaves office.
On the first of March 2023, all Mayors, chairpersons, and Local councils were instructed by the government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Local Government to vacate their offices and hand over all official properties to the different Chief Administrators as their tenure of office elapses.
The Tonkilili Chairperson bid fear well to her people in a WhatsApp memo that was shared virally.
She states that she huccessfully handed over the office and official properties of the council to the Chief Administrator on the 1st of March 2023 in compliance with the order of the Local Government Ministry.
She thanks God Almighty and the people of Tonkolili for electing and allowing her to serve the district for five years.
Sesay stated that her journey in the council was tough with many challenges, adding that she wouldn’t have succeeded without her foot soldiers, the Deputy Chairman, and the other twenty-eight councilors as it was a blessing to work with them.
She said they fought and won as a team.
“I am very fortunate and blessed to have you as counselors. Thank you all for the love, prayers, and support. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” she stated.
