Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown has remanded a 29-year-old security guard at Pademba Road Male Correctional Center for Larceny contrary to section 2(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The accused was arraigned before Court on two counts of charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The two accused are 29-year-old Sheriff Turay a security guard and 59-year-old Yambay Saidu, business women.

According to the particulars of the offence, sometime in February 2023 at No. 28 Fudia Terrace Spur Loop, Wilberforce Freetown, the first accused, security guard stole one white-grey colour electric iron valued at one thousand one hundred Leones (Le1,100, 00), one scooter valued eight hundred Leones (Le800), and one white hug foot rubber valued at two thousand two hundred (2,200) property of Aaron Hale.

On count two, the second accused person (Nyambay Saidu) in the same above place and on the same date received one hug-foot container valued at three hundred and fifty Leones (Le350) property of Aaron Hale knew the same to be stolen.

After the changes were read and explained to the accused, the second accused pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector M Kamara applied for Bench Warrant against the second accused person and told the Court that his witness is present but he didn’t have a proper discussion with him.

Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra, however, refused the first accused bail and sent the accused person to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center.

Magistrate Gogra adjourned the matter to Thursday 16 March 2023, for another hearing.
