In a demonstration of solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie, has donated 300 bags of rice to the Muslim community in Bonthe District.
The donation, aimed at supporting fasting Muslims, was handed over to the District’s Chief Imam for equitable distribution across chiefdom councils.
Each of the 15 chiefdoms in the district received 20 bags of rice, along with a bag of sugar to assist in preparing Iftar meals. Additionally, a cash sum of NLe 20 was provided to help cover transportation costs for delivering the items to their respective communities.
While presenting the donation, Dr. Senesie acknowledged the contributions of his goodwill partners and philanthropists, including Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who played a key role in making the initiative possible.
He reassured the people of Bonthe of his continued advocacy for more support and development initiatives. “As your representative, I will always work towards bringing assistance to our people. This donation is a token of our collective commitment to your well-being,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the district, Chief Imam Alhaji Isharka Sesay commended the Minister for his generosity, calling it a timely intervention.
“Dr. Turad Senesie, the Muslim community in Bonthe acknowledges and appreciates your consistent support. May Allah reward you abundantly,” he said.
Religious leaders from Jong and Imperri Chiefdoms, Alhaji Alhassan Kamara and Alhaji Abubakarr Leigh, urged other political representatives from the district to follow Dr. Senesie’s example by actively supporting their communities.
The gathering concluded with prayers for Dr. Senesie, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh, and President Julius Maada Bio, seeking divine guidance and blessings for their leadership.
