The Director General of the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), Ing. Milton Gegbai, has passed away in Freetown this morning following a brief illness.
The unexpected news of his demise has sent shockwaves through Sierra Leone’s energy sector, where he served as a central figure in managing and expanding the nation’s power generation grid.
Ing. Gegbai, a respected engineer, assumed the leadership of the state-owned utility company in late 2020. During his tenure, he was instrumental in driving key transition projects, including regional energy partnerships and major renewable solar energy initiatives aimed at stabilizing the country’s electricity supply.
Official statements regarding his funeral arrangements and the interim leadership of the EGTC are expected to be released by the Ministry of Energy.
