Alhaji Kargbo, a security guard at the Fourah Bay College on Wednesday, 5th March, 2025 made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 and was sent on remand for an alleged larceny matter.
The accused Alhaji Koroma was arraigned before the court on a count charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that Kargbo on Friday, 21st February 2025 at Fourah Bay College University campus in Freetown stole two trips of half inch granite stones each valued at Five Thousand New Leones (NLE 5,000) totaling Ten Thousand New Leones (NLE 10,000) property of Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone.
the accuse pleaded not guilty to the offense after the charge was read and explained to him.
Led in evidence by the Prosecutor, Sergeant 3379 Theresa Ballay, the witness Joseph Mattia, a security guard also at the same college recognized the accused as a co-worker.
He recalled the 21st February, 2025 stating that on the said date at 17:00 hours he was on duty and was patrolling the campus when he saw the accused carrying granite meant for construction purpose from the college site. He said on seeing the action, he arrested the accused and took him to the FBC Police Post, following which he said made a statement to the police.
The witness was later cross-examined by the accused person since he was not legally represented in court. No bail application was made on his behalf.
Magistrate Bangura therefore ordered that the accused be remanded in custody at the Male Correctional Center at Pademba Road and adjourned the matter to 13th March, 2025 for further hearing.
