A family of three has reportedly died after a fence collapsed at Goderich Metchkem, Kailahun Court Barry, in the early hours of Monday following heavy rainfall.
Reports indicate that the heavy overnight downpour weakened the structure, causing it to collapse suddenly while the victims were inside their residence. The collapse reportedly left them with no opportunity to escape.
Residents in the community described the rainfall as intense and prolonged, raising concerns about the safety of buildings and other structures in areas vulnerable to flooding and heavy rains.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while community members have called for urgent assessments of vulnerable structures to prevent similar tragedies.
The incident adds to growing concerns over the impact of the rainy season, which continues to threaten lives and property in several parts of Freetown.
