A tragic incident in Adonkia, Western Area Rural District, on April 18, 2024, has resulted in the arrest of four individuals following the alleged murder of a young man identified as Alhaji Kamara, aged 38.

Initial reports indicate that the victim was at his residence when he heard his neighbors receiving pipe-borne water from a newly installed pipe leading to his house. Upon discovering this, he confronted the individuals responsible for cutting his pipe.

However, the confrontation quickly escalated, and the four suspects, identified as Nelly Sesay, Fatmata During, Ramatu Sesay, and Olor During, allegedly assaulted Alhaji Kamara, inflicting severe injuries. The victim was reportedly struck with a blunt object, resulting in damage to his spine and head. Following the assault, the suspects fled the scene, leaving the victim abandoned on the road.

Alhaji Kamara was rushed to the nearby Emergency Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Subsequent investigations revealed the extent of his injuries, including bruises on his body and a broken spine and head caused by the blunt object.

A concerning development emerged during the autopsy process at Connaught Hospital. Initially, the attending pathologist’s report suggested that the victim had a liver problem and had smoke in his lungs, despite never having smoked in his life. However, upon further scrutiny by independent pathologists, it was determined that the smoke in his lungs may have originated from mosquito coils.

The Lumley Police initiated the investigation into the matter, which has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further inquiry. As investigations continue, the community awaits justice for the tragic loss of Alhaji Kamara.
