Three Employees of Bloom Bank, Kofi Adu Apenteng, Joseph Amadu Bangura, Almedette Olive Korsah, and Sento Momoh is Nurse found themselves before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 on Pademba Road, Freetown, facing charges of defrauding the bank of millions of new Leones.
The accused were charged on three counts, including causing money to be paid to another with the intent to defraud, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916, and conspiracy to defraud, contrary to law.
According to the particulars of the offense on count 1, the accused, on December 15 and 18, 2023, at Bloom Bank Africa, Kissy Road, Freetown, conspired together with others unknown to defraud Bloom Bank Africa Sierra Leone Limited of $4,000, equivalent to ninety-four thousand New Leones.
Count 2 alleges that the accused, on the same dates and at the same bank, caused money to be paid to Sento Momoh by Bloom Bank Africa Sierra Leone Limited, falsely claiming genuine withdrawals made from Enrico Walter’s account.
Count 3 states a similar offense, with the accused unlawfully causing money to be paid to Sento Momoh from Enrico Walter’s account.
Each accused was granted bail in the sum of eighty thousand Leones, but they were unable to meet the condition and were remanded until they could do so.
The matter is adjourned to April 17, 2024, with DSP Sorie Conteh prosecuting the case.
