High Court Sentences Man to 15 Years for Possession of Kush
Osman Tolo Sesay The High Court in Freetown has sentenced Santigie Bangura of Kamanda Farm to 15 years’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of 30.5 grams of the synthetic drug commonly known as Kush.
Presiding Judge, Justice Isata Susan Sellu Tucker, underscored the Judiciary’s commitment to tackling the rising spread of synthetic drugs in Sierra Leone.
She said Kush continues to pose significant health and security risks in communities nationwide and reiterated the courts’ responsibility to impose deterrent penalties to curb the growing trade.
The conviction forms part of ongoing efforts by the Judiciary and law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related offenses amid increasing public concern about the widespread abuse of synthetic substances across the country.
