A devastating fire outbreak in the afternoon hours of Sunday, 9th February 2025, has left residents of Bateima Village Moyamba district homeless, with significant losses in property and livelihoods. The fire reportedly destroyed 30 dwelling houses, affecting numerous families and causing millions in damages.
James S. Josiah, a victim of the incident, expressed deep concern over the tragedy, stating that the cause of the fire is still unknown. The disaster has not only led to the destruction of homes but has also resulted in the loss of food supplies and personal belongings, leaving many residents in dire need of support.
In response to the crisis, Hon. Sylvester Maxwell A. Boima has stepped in to assist the victims With Shelters as a quick fixed. He has pledged to advocate for aid from other government officials to provide shelter and resources for those affected by the fire. His commitment to the community has been met with gratitude from the residents, who are in urgent need of assistance.
Chief Emmanuel George, the Speaker of Kowa Chiefdom, commended Hon. Boima for his timely intervention. He urged the community to exercise caution to prevent future fire incidents, emphasizing the importance of safety measures to protect the lives and properties of the residents.
