It could be recalled after the demised of PC MP of Kenema District, who was elected before the June 24th multi-tier elections PC Foday Fabba Kpakra, there was a need to replace him.

The election was unanimously agreed by all sixteen paramount chiefs to be peaceful though it’s the first time such strategy has been initiated to usher in a PC MP in Kenema District since election was the last resort after employing every other means.

Before the commencement of voting, the pioneer of the strategy, who doubles as the National Secretary General National Council of Paramount Chiefs, PC Sovula of Kabondeh Chiefdom, Moyamba District, admonished candidates and their supporters to uphold peace before, during and after the election.

He further stated that, as a council, they have decided to prevent their subjects from voting in the PC Member of Parliament elections across the country as it is not only costly but a recipe for violence, division, and grudges. Moreover, the strategy has worked in districts like Kono and Pujehun without any problem noting that, it is a clear testament that it can work anywhere in the country.

Supervising the process were the regional Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs Eastern Region, PC Coomber, Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs Kailahun District, PC Coker Jajua whose main focus was on peace and unity that will foster the development of Kenema District, since it is the regional headquarter town of Eastern – Region.

Witnessing the occasion were, the press, representatives from the Peace Commission, the former Mayor of Kenema City Council, the Kenema District Council Chairman, the newly transferred Senior District Officer to Kenema District, and more.

Because all sixteen paramount chiefs pledged to accept the outcome of the results, they are now patiently waiting for the winner’s nomination day at the ECSL District office in Kenema to exhibit love and unity.
