The Chief Superintendent Edison Vandi, Local Unit Commander at the Kenema police division has on the 1st March 2024 restored Peace in Tunkai Chiefdom.

The LUC was warmly welcomed by Chief Vandi Sama, the town Chief of Golahun who expressed concerns about an incident that had the potential to create tension among his subjects. He highlighted the upcoming Paramount chieftaincy election in Tunkai Chiefdom, which had resulted in misinformation and disinformation within the community.

Chief Vandi, on behalf of himself and his subjects, earnestly requested the LUC to employ his expertise in informal conflict resolution to promote peaceful coexistence among the people of Tunkai.

In response, the LUC spoke on the importance of choosing the path of peace as a fundamental aspect of fostering development in the Chiefdom and that everyone has to play a vital part in achieving that.  He urged the residents to prioritize unity, emphasizing that any discord could lead to a misallocation of government resources and hinder the progress of the Chiefdom.

He called on all parties involved in conflicts to recognize that Sierra Leone is a country governed by law, encouraging them to address their grievances through appropriate channels as well as pledging his commitment  to provide effective police services at all times to ensure that, the community and the people are safe at all times.

The gathering witnessed affirmations of dedication to peace, love, and harmony from various community leaders.
