A man who was beaten in a viral video for allegedly stealing a vehicle at Youyi Building in Freetown has denied the allegations, calling them false.
Identifying himself as Steven Justin, he spoke in an interview with a popular investigative journalist, explaining that he was invited to the Ministry of Lands at Youyi Building due to a land dispute with another individual.
According to Justin, his opponent, Retired AIG Patrick Johnson, had been claiming ownership of his property. Their dispute led to both being invited to the Ministry of Lands for resolution.
He alleged that upon his arrival at Youyi Building, while attempting to park his vehicle, Rtd. AIG Johnson suddenly shouted “thief” and incited a crowd to attack him.
Justin further stated that he was accompanied by his brother, who fled the scene as he was beaten with sticks, sustaining multiple injuries.
He also accused the mob of damaging his vehicle and stealing his belongings, which included $2,500 in rent money, two phones, 3,000 New Leones, a wristwatch, a necklace, and his sneakers.
