Two Ministry of Health Staff Remanded Over Stolen Toyota Land Cruiser
Sia Lucy Kannah Two employees linked to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation have been remanded in custody for allegedly conspiring to steal a government vehicle.
Mohamed Kamara, 40, a driver, and Mohamed Conteh, 28, a mechanic, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No.1 on Tuesday.
They are charged with conspiracy and theft of a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number AXP 063, valued at about NLe 860,000 (USD 40,000), the property of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
Court documents allege that on September 5, 2025, at the National Health Agency Emergency Operations Center in Cockril, Freetown, the two men conspired with unknown persons to unlawfully take the vehicle during the course of their official duties.
During proceedings, the charges were read and explained, but the accused did not enter a plea. Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray requested a short adjournment to enable the first witness to testify. The defendants are represented by lawyers W.V. Gaber Esq. and I. Dele Taylor Esq.
Citing the seriousness of the allegations, Magistrate Jah denied bail and adjourned the matter to September 29, 2025, for further hearing.
