The search for a missing finance officer has ended in tragedy after residents discovered his body in a river at Sasahun village on Tuesday.
Mr. Sallu Moina Kanneh, Finance Officer of the Ndomakeh Federation, had been reported missing since March 11, 2026. According to family sources, Kanneh left his home in Daru, Jawei Chiefdom, in the early hours of the morning to observe prayers but failed to return.
Concern grew as hours turned into days, prompting a search by family members and community residents. The search concluded on Tuesday when Sasahun villagers discovered a body in a local river. Authorities were immediately alerted, and the remains were later identified as Kanneh.
The Daru Police Division has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Police have not released additional details as inquiries continue.

The incident has shocked the Daru community and the wider Jawei Chiefdom, with colleagues and community members expressing grief over the loss of a man described as dedicated and respected.
Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that may assist the investigation.
