The Moyamba District Council has greenlit the supplementary budget for 2024, alongside the official launch of the Road Maintenance Funds for the same year.

Chairman Joseph Mbogba presided over the proceedings, announcing that contracts for four roads have been awarded to four contractors. Additionally, he outlined plans for coordinating with the Chief Administrator and Paramount Chief to establish scheduled dates for contractor handovers to the community.

Emphasizing community involvement, Chairman Mbogba urged residents to actively monitor the progress of road maintenance projects. In response to the budget, Councillor Mei emphasized the importance of adherence to council instructions, suggesting that sectors failing to comply should be compelled to do so.

During the two-day deliberations, Chairman Mbogba acknowledged challenges, notably delays in budget submissions from some sectors. However, he expressed gratitude to cooperative sectors and councillors for their efforts.

Looking ahead, Chairman Mbogba announced plans for the launch of Feed Salone in the District on March 15, 2024, under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Additionally, the council is set to initiate rotational council ordinary meetings at the chiefdom level, aiming for increased community engagement and participation in local governance.
