A significant mudslide has occurred at One Pole, Allen Town, situated along the Wellington-Masiaka Highway in Sierra Leone’s capital.
According to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, the landslide was triggered by unauthorized excavation work near the roadway.
The Authority has confirmed the arrest of at least one individual connected to these illicit activities and is cooperating with local law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
In response to the incident, authorities have temporarily closed a section of the highway, specifically from Orogu Bridge to Furniture Junction, to carry out urgent repairs.

To alleviate traffic disruptions, commuters are being directed to use the Grafton-Furniture Road (commonly known as the Old Road) during peak travel times.

Look at those houses! Find a way to safely destroy all of them. Why are people building everywhere? That is a highway, how can you have houses that close? These are not even pan bodies, people with money are doing this? We alaki. All those home owners should also be arrested for illegal excavation. That section needs to be stabilized pronto, or the road will be going down the hill soon.
