Principal Magistrate of the Eastern Province and Magistrate of Court No. 1 in the Kenema Judicial District, His Lordship Hadiu Daboh, has denied bail to 12 accused persons charged in connection with the alleged burning of the Kailahun Police Barracks.

The accused made their first appearance before the court on Tuesday, 1 July 2026, over the incident, which reportedly occurred on 21 June 2026.

According to court proceedings, the suspects were arrested on 30 June 2026 at about 7:40 p.m. before being arraigned before the magistrate.

The matter was brought before the court by the Inspector General of Police under Case No. C/3 519/26.

After hearing the matter, Magistrate Daboh refused the bail applications, ordering that the accused persons remain in custody pending further proceedings.

The alleged burning of the Kailahun Police Barracks has attracted public attention, with investigations continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has been adjourned, and the accused are expected to reappear in court as the prosecution continues its investigations and presents further evidence.
