A local painter has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on allegations of housebreaking and larceny.
The accused, Alhaji John Bill, is charged under the Larceny Act of 1916. Prosecutors allege that he broke into the home of Meshoe Jalloh in the Mountain Rural District on July 12, 2026, with the intention of stealing property.
According to the prosecution, the items allegedly taken were twenty cartons of tiles and a power bank, with a combined value of Le10,900.
Because the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding, Bill was not required to enter a plea.
During the hearing, prosecutor DPC 18235 Kebbie K. Thoronka informed the court that all case files had been served on the defendant. The prosecutor added that Bill indicated he intends to cross-examine the prosecution’s witnesses.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail and ordered that the defendant remain in custody at the Male Correctional Facility.
The case has been adjourned to August 4, 2026, for further proceedings.
