Police Arrest 12 Suspected QNET Scammers in Waterloo
Deborah Sorie The Sierra Leone Police have arrested 12 suspected QNET operatives during a major operation in Waterloo, authorities said Friday.
The raid took place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Lovers Corner in Waterloo, according to Local Unit Commander Superintendent Bankolay Mansaray.
Officers encountered several foreign nationals, including men and women, during the operation. After screening, police identified them as suspected QNET operatives. Three women and nine men were arrested, while several others escaped and remain at large.
Mansaray said the operation targeted compounds allegedly used by suspected transnational trafficking and fraud networks.
All suspects have been transferred to the Transnational Organised Crime Unit at Hastings for further investigation.
Internal Affairs Minister AIG (Rtd.) Morie Lengor received an intelligence report on the operation and reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance stance against organised crime, human trafficking, and fraudulent networks.
Lengor assured the public that all suspects in custody would be fully investigated and prosecuted. He also called on police to strengthen security and community collaboration to dismantle criminal networks operating in Waterloo and other parts of the country.
