The Waterloo Police Division has announced the passing of Chief Inspector Samuel Bai Kargbo, affectionately known as Sammy, from the Waterloo Division Traffic.

On May 5th, 2023, while directing traffic at the 555 junction in Waterloo, Sammy was hit by a speeding vehicle driven by Abu Bakarr Jalloh.

Despite being rushed to the Emergency Hospital in Freetown, Sammy succumbed to his injuries later that day.

Sammy had previously served at the Traffic Unit in Kenema, where he was known for his unwavering commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow.

His dedication was so appreciated that drivers and motorists in Kenema nicknamed the popular Hangha Road as “Sammy Junction”.

The Waterloo Police Division has arrested the driver responsible for the accident and impounded their vehicle.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Chief Inspector Sammy’s family and friends during this difficult time. We honor his selfless service to humanity and mourn the loss of a beloved brother and colleague. May his soul rest in peace,” the Police bemoaned.
