An Operations Support Division (OSD) officer of the Sierra Leone Police identified as PC 16114 Augustine Kanja has been attacked and stabbed at rokel community, in the western area of the country.

According to Johnny Paul, the information officer of the Kissy Police Division, Kanja who previously served as a former security to a former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Richard Moigbeh was allegedly attacked and beaten up by three people identified as Alpha Kamara, Abu Kamara and Samba Kamara all of Maroute village in Rokel.

The severity of the assault left him with a deep gash on his back. Authorities were alerted to the incident when it was reported at the Rokel police post shortly after midnight at 00:45 hours on 10th September.

Following the alleged assault, the suspects are understood to have fled the scene and currently remain at large. The investigation into this assault is underway, with seasoned investigator DPC 14088 Conteh A B from the CID department in Rokel taking charge under the supervision of O/C Supt. Kalokoh. Photos capturing the aftermath of the attack on Kanja have been released to the media.

Kissy Division Reinforces Security Following Night-Long Vigil

In a related development on Sunday morning, the Kissy Division witnessed significant police activity. After a night of heightened alertness, a majority of the division’s personnel congregated at the administrative building of the Kissy Divisional headquarters, gearing up for deployment.

Images circulating in the media underscore the proactive measures taken by LUC CSP Sao Vandy and his team, including Supt. Unisa Turay and operations officer Supt. John S Koroma, as they directed personnel in response to potential challenges. Checkpoints across the Kissy Division have been bolstered, drawing support from both OSD and RSLAF units. As the region remains on high alert, patrolling continues unabated with no serious incidents being flagged as yet.
