Pregnant Woman Dies in Falaba as Ambulance Gets Stuck on Bad Road
A pregnant woman from Farawa, Wolabara Chiefdom, Falaba District, has reportedly died while being transported to Kabala Government Hospital in neighbouring Koinadugu District after an ambulance became stuck on a poor road.
Falaba District Medical Officer, Dr Daniel Lavalie, said the ambulance initially dispatched to transport the woman became stuck along the route, prompting health authorities to send a second ambulance.
The woman reportedly died while being transported to the hospital.
The incident has raised concerns about the condition of roads in remote parts of Falaba District and the difficulties residents face in accessing emergency healthcare.
However, it has not been independently established whether the reported road delays directly contributed to the woman’s death.
The incident has renewed calls for improvements to rural roads and emergency medical services to help ensure patients in hard-to-reach communities can access healthcare facilities in time.
