Several pupils have been admitted at the Connaught hospital in Freetown, after they attended a program organised by the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio.
On Tuesday 14 March 2023, female pupils from different schools across the capital joined other Sierra Leonean women to participate in a Thank-You ‘float parade’ in respect of Government’s achievement in enacting the Gender Bill.
However, thing went bad as several of the pupils were rushed to Connaught hospital for medical attention.
According to report, the pupils suffered from suffocation and exhaustion during the parade.

In a video shared on social media, several of the children were seen lying down helplessly in the hospital’s slabs, grasping for air and fighting for their dear lives. Worried attendants were seen rushing other victims inside the already congested hospital, with onlookers lamenting on the decision of the First Lady to involve the children in a political matter.
It could be recalled that a similar incident occurred last month in Bo, which led to the hospitalisation of hundreds of school going children.
