Following the candlelight procession, vigil, and night of honor for the late Betty Lambio, aka Jelly B, held on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh, paid tribute to the late superstar, reflecting on the strong relationship he shared with her.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Sengeh expressed his deep admiration for the late superstar’s talent, saying she had made significant achievements in the music industry. He emphasized that she believed she could represent the country on any musical stage. He commended, ‘Jelly was small but mighty!

The Minister reflected on a memorably moment which he once had with Late Jelly B. He explained, “there was a time when Jelly B was performing, I did a video record of her on stage and send it to her, and her response was “Arh! Is this video tape really coming from my role model?””

The Minister continued revealing that he normally used to meet and write songs with Jelly B and many other young Artists. “That’s why when I meet with her and like five different young people, we all would write Music, and when I write, Jelly normally debunks my written songs, and at some points, when she writes, she would asked for my opinion about her song.”

The Minister, in addressing the mourners at the session, advised that in the creative, entertainment, and art world, the professions, skills or ablility of people does not matter. He said, what matters is for people to be able to reach the potential. “When we were there applauding her, it is because she reached the potential, and she deserves our praise,” he asserted.

The Minister addressed that in supporting others to reach their desired potentials is what some of them represent in the country. He made a vivid example to the milestone of Jelly B, who captivated the hearts of her fans in all the appearances she made on stage.

Minister Sengeh went forward to explain that there was a time when Jelly wanted to introduced someone who needed a help to him, even though she had his number, he said Jelly was a bit skeptical about the strong relationship she had with him because she was afraid of loosing it. He said, however, she introduced the person to him, and he ended up helping the individual.
