Prince Oscar, Emeka Ouigbo, and five other individuals appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Court No:1 at Pademba Road in Freetown, facing charges of alleged kidnapping
The accused individuals were standing trial on five counts: conspiracy, causing grievous bodily harm, larceny from a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and kidnapping, all in violation of Sierra Leonean laws.
According to the police, between December 11th, 2022, and December 16th, 2022, at No:26 Doherty Street, Murry Town in Freetown, Prince Oscar and Emeka Ouigbo conspired with Sahr Kamara, Fuad Thoronkah, Mohamed Turay, Yemah Samura, and Ferdinand Oyeoziri to kidnap Austine Chukwik Nwuso.
Furthermore, it was alleged that during the same period and at the same location, Emeka Ouigbo and Prince Oscar inflicted severe bodily harm on Austine Chukwik Nwuso with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The police also claimed that on the same date, at Lumley Beach Road, all the accused individuals stole the amount of one thousand two hundred United States Dollars ($1,200) from Onyeka Umeji.
Additionally, the police alleged that on Friday, December 2022, at the aforementioned place, the first and second accused persons physically assaulted Austine Chukwik Nwuso, causing him actual bodily harm.
It was further alleged that between December 11th, 2022, and December 16th, 2022, at the mentioned address in Freetown, Prince Oscar and Emeka Ouigbo forcefully and unlawfully abducted Austine Chukwik Nwuso against his will.
The state counsel, Yusif I Sesay, expressed the inability to make progress without the presence of the second accused, who was absent from court. Consequently, he requested a bench warrant for the second accused.
The Magistrate granted the bench warrant, ordering the apprehension of the second accused and their appearance in court on the next adjourned date. The case was adjourned until June 15th, 2023, for further proceedings.
