Popular Sierra Leonean female rapper Natasha Beckley has raised concerns over reports that Sierra Leonean travellers are being prevented from departing through Conakry International Airport in Guinea.

Beckley disclosed the development on her official Facebook page on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, describing it as “heart breaking” for Sierra Leoneans who frequently use Conakry as an alternative departure point for international travel.

According to the rapper, she has a contestant who is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka, but the reported restriction could create additional financial difficulties for the traveller.

She said her agent informed her that Sierra Leoneans could no longer travel out of Conakry, noting the significant difference in airfare between the two departure points.

Tickets from Conakry to Sri Lanka is $1,100, tickets from Freetown to Sri Lanka $1,850,” Beckley stated.

She expressed disappointment over the reported development, particularly the potential impact on travellers who rely on Conakry for comparatively cheaper international flights.

The claim comes amid heightened regional efforts to address irregular migration and human trafficking, with Guinea reportedly taking measures affecting the movement of some foreign travellers through its airports.

However, the specific scope and official basis of the reported restriction on Sierra Leonean travellers were not immediately clear from Beckley’s statement.

The development is likely to generate concerns among Sierra Leoneans who regularly transit through Guinea to access international destinations at lower travel costs.
