The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), through its Corporate Affairs Directorate at Police Headquarters, has commenced a two-day Strategic Action Planning Workshop for Local Unit Commanders (LUCs) at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess in Kingtom.
The workshop, which runs from July 23 to 24, 2026, brings together Local Unit Commanders and Heads of Departments from across the country to strengthen the implementation of the SLP’s 2026 Strategic Action Plan.
Delivering the keynote address, Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu emphasised the importance of strategic planning in improving operational efficiency, enhancing service delivery, and responding effectively to emerging security challenges.
IGP Sellu urged participants to approach the planning process with commitment, professionalism, and accountability, while developing practical, measurable, and results-oriented action plans aligned with the police’s vision and national security priorities.
He highlighted innovation, teamwork, discipline, and effective resource management as key factors in achieving the objectives of the 2026 Strategic Action Plan.
The IGP also instructed Local Unit Commanders to intensify patrols within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs) to strengthen crime prevention, maintain law and order, and build public confidence in the police.
He encouraged officers to promote unity, mutual respect, and collaboration, while remaining dedicated to their responsibilities.
Concluding his remarks, Mr Sellu called on participants to actively engage in the workshop and take ownership of their roles to ensure the successful implementation of the police’s strategic objectives and the development of a more professional, accountable, and service-oriented institution.
