Multimedia Content producer and entrepreneur, Vickie Remoe has brought out to what extent the Sierra Leone Renaissance Movement have been reduced to.

After keen observation of what has been happening in the country, she pen down this precise piece.

“When the Renaissance Movement wanted to protest under APC, the police didn’t give them a permit. What did they do? Did they tell people to go to the streets? Nope! They took the protest online and told people to wear black. And it worked.

Sadly too many Renaissance people went after the greener pastures effectively killing a cross cutting movement that amplified socio economic issues.

Once this administration co-opted the leaders of Renaissance it took away that level-headed culture of “dissent” its leaders had kickstarted.

What do we have now???? Sierra Leone’s digital space is dominated by unhinged people, extremists, and political hopefuls trying to capitalize on the suffering of the masses in hopes that they can emerge as next in line to be co-opted by APC should they come to power.”

Renaissance Movement, is a civil Society organization operating in Sierra Leone with the aim of re-inventing and repositioning the country.

It was founded in 2013 essentially to fight for a new Sierra Leone- a rebirth of every facet of society but sadly its members have allowed themselves to be used as pawns in the political chess.

This was the same reason one of its founding members, Lawyer Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah, resigned from the movement.

Now most of them as Vickie Remoe puts it- have become unhinged people, extremists, and political hopefuls that have dominated the digital space trying to capitalize on the suffering of the masses in hopes that they can emerge as next in line to be co-opted by APC should they come to power.
