Musu Sinnah on the 9th June 2022 made another appearance before Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay of the High Court No. 1 in Freetown on one count charge of Murder.

The Statement of offence states Murder and the particulars of offence read that the accused person on the 24th May 2021 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone murdered Steven Saccoh.

Prosecution Witness Binta Jalloh who is a Fish Monger and a neighbor to both the accused and the deceased. She said the deceased was the younger brother of her husband and took the witness stand to testify on the event. She said on the 24th May 2021 around 6-7pm she heard the accused and the deceased husband Aruna Kamara arguing over money for food.

She narrated that the deceased pleaded with the accused that he had no money but that the accused was defiant of his pleas and insisted on having the money.

Prosecution Witness Binta Jalloh continued that the younger sister who also lived with them tried to calm both the accused and deceased but both were defiant of pleas from anyone and continued with the argument.

She said the deceased Aruna Kamara then left the house followed by the accused to his eldest brother’s house where they stayed late till 12-1am and later heard Aruna the deceased shout out the name of the accused Musu. She said this happen whilst she was attending to her child. She furthermore stated that immediately she heard the deceased call out the name of the accused, she was about opening her door when the accused called out her own name three times and said the deceased Aruna has stabbed him to death

.She said upon hearing such news, she saw the door opened and saw blood splattering on the bedsheets and immediately she said she screamed out loud for people to gather that the accused has killed deceased Aruna Kamara alias Jackson.

Binta Jalloh went on that she ran out of the house and rushed to the eldest brother’s house to call on him and upon returning she saw the accused coming from the back of the house and that immediately she questioned
She said the accused replied that she went to dispose of her child’s feces.

She said the eldest brother grabbed the accused and reported the matter at the Adonkia Police Station where statements were obtained from her and added that returning back home from the station she met two police officers at the crime scene and saw J.S Tucker Esq. represented the state the police officers held a knife that had blood stains on it.

She was cross examined by Defense Counsel for the accused person C.Tucker Esq who inquired about her duration of both the accused and the deceased marriage.

She answered that the deceased got married to the accused not less than 5months and that both the accused and the deceased never had any child or children but that the accused had a child whom she brought with her to live with her and the deceased. She also inquired about the Prosecution Witness if the deceased usually beats the accused (Domestic Violence) she said this incident happened only for the first time. She concluded that the knife was found at the back of the house where she previously saw the accused coming from.

She said her, the accused and the deceased lived together but were separated as both the accused and the deceased lived at the Veranda whilst she lived at the parlor room.

The accused charge were read to her in court and she pleaded not guilty as Justice Ivan Sesay cautioned her to be truthful that in her Voluntary Caution Statement (VCS). whilst C. Tucker Esq. represented the accused person. Matter has been adjourned to the 16th June 2022
