As Christmas is fastly approaching, in Kenema, a woman has been alleged to have killed her child with caustic soda because of Christmas.

This news reached us through a video that has been making rounds on the media. According to the snippet video, the mother, whose name was not disclosed poison her to death with caustic soda.

An undisclosed man behind the camera further alleged that the woman killed her 3 months old child while feeding the child after she had mixed caustic soda with the child’s food.

The man continued that, the woman alleged Christmas to be the reason for her actions as she the child was disturbing her plans to move to the capital, Freetown to enjoy her festive season without thinking of having a child.

This incident happened southern part of Sierra Leone, a village name Pahama, in Falawandu. The accused, mother of the child who couldn’t say a word while  allegations levied on her stood motionless with handcuffs as she journeyed with the husband to Kenema on a local ferry.

Festive season has always been a season of joyous moments, filled with celebrations. The season is known to start from late November to early January. It is defined as incorporating at least Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and sometimes various other holidays and festivals.

The same festive season also most times filled with surprises and death cases. This is connected to the frequency of road accidents on the highways as a result of reckless drivers and deaths of young children from reckless mothers who are giving birth by chance and not choice, especially teenage girls.
