As humanity works overtime to scrub off the scent of pandemic era which rampaged the entertainment industry and threatened a devastating resurgence, we’ve all witnessed a boom in outdoor activities globally and in Sierra Leone.

Entertainers and musicians are not left out of this and have doubled down to create soundtracks to support the wave and thanks to this, we’ve had a sonically hotter year, with the airwaves taken captive by banger tracks after banger tracks.

Last year 2021, Sierraloaded started the Hottest Artiste List, an undiluted run down of the Artistes that shaped, defined and led music among Sierra Leonean consumers throughout the year.

This list underscores the entertainers who scored the biggest hits, tours, mega moves on the local and international scene, the award winners, and in general, the people we’ve listened and danced to for the past 12 months

Be sure you are following Sierraloaded on all social media platforms so as not to miss out on this list

Mello Seven – #10

Multi-talented afrobeat musician, Jonathan Obai Fitzjohn aka Mello Seven has successfully registered himself among Sierra Leone’s mainstream entertainers with an impressive debut at the #10th spot of the 20 Hottest Artiste list in Sierra Leone 2022!

Since beginning his musical career in 2018, Mello Seven has excelled having worked with several renowned acts, including Drizilik, Shadow Boxxer, Jooel, and many others. His two biggest singles to date are “The Map” alongside Jooel and Drizilik and “One Time.”

2022 marked Mello Seven’s proper mainstream emergence culminating in the release of his debut “Wonders” album. The 10-track album has songs about suffering, pressure, advancement, joy, inspiration, and love. The musician defines his work as a fusion of the positive and terrible sides of life and how people get through the hard patches to reach their goals. Drizilik, Boss La, iTribe and Skillz8figure are among the superstars whose voice appeared on the album while two award-winning producers from Sierra Leone, Thy Young and Jassie Jozzy were enlisted for the production.

Off the Wonders album saw the release of “Champion” featuring veteran rapper, Shadow Boxxer and “Enjoyment” featuring Boss La, a perfect celebration tune that has rocked major event, broadcast stations and streaming platforms in Sierra Leone.

Award wise, Mellon Seven has had his year capped with Brand Ambassador deals with Sierra Leone’s biggest mobile network, Orange as well as the Freetown City Council. On the tour scene, Mellon Seven expanded his reach by gracing several stages across Sierra Leone with electrifying performances and he also sold out his Wonders album release party.

With more grease to his elbow, we fully expect Mello Seven’s continuous rise to be reflected in 2023.
