The Satellite Newspaper has revealed that Seven Correctional officers were on Wednesday 1st June 2022 interviewed for the post of Director General of Sierra Leone Correctional Service.

Alhaji Ahmed Turay, Assistant Director, Madam Salamatu Bangura Kamara and Madam Susan Coker we’re amongst the seven Senior officers interviewed
for the coveted position.

From Front Page The former Director General, Joseph Lamboi, left his post on Monday 30th May 2021, marking the end of his two years’ contract extension by Government. It could be recalled that the former Director General reached his official retirement age of sixty (60) in 2020 but he was twice given annual contract extension as head of the institution.

His annual contract extension was supposed to expire in October, this year, but he had to quit as a result of his political ambition to declare his intention to run for the Chairmanship of the Moyamba District Council.

Meanwhile, the departure of Joseph Lamboi has left mixed feelings and thong wagging among Correctional Service Officers because under his ineptitude management leadership, Correctional Officers were often constrained to have their usual monthly ration due to his negligence to act uprightly.

Under his watch as DG, a fierce jail break at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown took place on 29th April, 2020 that resulted in loss of lives of both inmates and Correctional Officers and the gutting of correctional centre facilities including tuck shop, reception/records office, store, hospital, technical workshop amongst other facilities The ineptitude of his management even led to aggrieved contractors threatening to put on hold any further rice supply to the Correctional Centres if payments were not made as a result of discrimination in effecting payments to contractors.
